Music Never Dies

So often the debate springs up about a particular music genre being “dead.” Hip Hop is dead; R&B is dead, blah, blah, blah. What they are really saying is nothing in popular music is inspiring; therefore, it does not exist. Music is never dead. There are so many creatives out there constantly creating and delivering great music for our consumption. Because they are not considered “mainstream,” they may not get the listen that they deserve, but I am always listening. Discovering music by artists that are on the rise, or may not be as known by the masses is an experience in itself, like discovering the musical pot of gold. Not to take away from the established artist that we love, most are talented and we’ve put them in that position for a reason. Trust, I listen to them as well; however, there is something to be said about an artist who has not quite “made it” and is still grinding daily for their moment. You can hear the hunger, the angst, the love of music in each lyric and beat. What’s even better is when you come across an artist who is not necessarily worried about “making it,” but in making good music, even though you really want them to make it because the world needs their gift. It is my conviction that music is never dead; you just have to be willing to go find what you’re looking for. Below is a list of some dope artist I am currently listening to that you should definitely give a listen.
DVSN: A Muse in Her Feelings
Tom Misch & Yussef Dayes: What Kinda Music
Little Dragon: New Me, Same Us
C-Blaq: Rachel’s Baby
Loony: Joyride
Alina Baraz: It Was Divine
